TESCO(Tribal Area Electric Supply Company)
TESCO, short for Tribal Areas Electricity Supply Corporation, is a distribution company that falls under the umbrella of PEPCO (Pakistan Electric Power Company) and the Department of Energy (Energy Division). This corporation was established in August 2004 and primarily serves the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Frontier Regions (FRs). TESCO holds the distinction of being the sole electricity provider in this region, catering to the energy needs of the local consumers.
TESCO is responsible for all aspects of electricity distribution in the tribal areas, including the construction and maintenance of critical infrastructure. This includes work on the 11 kV transmission lines and 132/66 kV lines, which is carried out by TESCO’s dedicated employees. The company is committed to ensuring a consistent and reliable power supply to the consumers in this challenging terrain.
TESCO’s organizational structure comprises a sales department, five operational divisions, an SS&TL (Substations and Transmission Lines) division, an M&T (Monitoring and Testing) division, and a construction division. Together, these divisions work cohesively to manage and maintain the electricity distribution network in the tribal areas, supporting the energy needs of the local population
Taxes in TESCO’s bill
- FPA (Fuel Price Adjustment): This adjustment reflects changes in fuel prices, particularly those associated with rental power companies generating electricity from sources like crude oil. It helps account for fluctuations in fuel costs, and you’ll notice this adjustment on your bill when applicable.
- TR Surcharge (Tariff Rationalization Surcharge): The TR surcharge represents the difference between NEPRA (National Electric Power Regulatory Authority) and GOP (Government of Pakistan) tariffs. When the difference is positive, it becomes payable by the GOP as a subsidy. Conversely, if the difference is negative, the Distribution Company pays the GOP as an “Inter DISCO Tariff Rationalization Surcharge (IDTR SUR).”
- FC Surcharge (Financing Cost Surcharge): A fixed charge of 43 paisa per unit is included as the FC surcharge, which aims to secure the collection of debt servicing of Power Holding Private Limited.
- Deferred Amount: This portion of your bill allows you to choose to pay it later in the same month. For deferred payments, there are no late fees. However, it’s important to note that this amount may be included in your next bills in installments or as a lump sum.
- QTR Tariff Adj / DMC (Quarterly Tariff Adjustment): This adjustment is a part of your bill that appears every three months, reflecting the changes in tariffs during that period.

- Ensure your air conditioner receives proper maintenance before the summer season to maximize its efficiency.
- Avoid using high-voltage appliances during peak hours to reduce the strain on the electrical grid.
- Improve your home’s energy efficiency by installing double-paned glass windows and high-quality curtains to minimize heat gain from sunlight.
- Consider using rigid foam panels in your roof for insulation, as well as wall and ceiling insulation to maintain a cooler indoor environment during daylight hours.
